The Fluid Project
My art shifted in response to the heaps of cardboard and plastic accumulating in response to COVID-19 shutdown. Instead of making art, I found myself breaking down boxes. Until one day I stood in the middle of a 6 ft piece of cardboard and realized that garbage was my canvas. What if the very thing that was choking the earth, became the thing that woke us up to saving it?
The gallery space at Pitch Black Printing became an activation site. During the day organizations interacted under the river of plastic and taught children and adults about the importance of clean water and community. Since then, Ecolution Studios partnered with NexTrex recycling to establish multiple sites in the city and is collecting plastic that will be converted into a bench for the homeless. Art inspired action.
